The Atlantic Ôcean: Sport & Tradition

The west coast is distinguished by the excellence and the water quality of its beaches, many awarded with the European Blue Flag prize. All of them have modern infrastructures integrated into the landscape. The new marina of Peniche hosts a large number of companies offering several sports in Berlenga, a sanctuary for the practice of fishing and diving.

At the same time, the marina of the Bay of Nazareth S. Martinho do Porto hosts a large fleet of local and foreign boats in search of nautical tourism. It also offers several schools and centres specialized in water sports. The cities of Santa Cruz, Peniche (Supertubos) and Nazareth are a mandatory reference for surfers. Each year, several international competitions gather together the best surfers around the world. The lagoon of Óbidos offers exceptional conditions for sailing, rowing and windsurfing. Many schools dedicated to teaching these sports have selected this spot as their residence.
